Respite Assistant            7               Rainbow Respite                 Mount Vernon, Kentucky

RFT, Non-Exempt                                                                               Sunday – Thursday

                                                                                                           3:00 p.m. – 11:00 p.m.

 

Position Summary

Provides respite services in center based setting or in community to children/adults who are developmentally, physically and/or mentally challenged; provides care according to participants individual needs; maintains records; and implements various activities that encourages recreation, socialization, educational and self-help skills.

 

Education Requirements

High School diploma or GED plus up to 18 months of education or training beyond the high school level.

 

Experience Requirements

1-2 years of successful experience in a job related field, or the equivalent combination of education and

experience.

 

Physical Requirements

Ability to bend, stoop, reach, push, pull, stand, walk and lift up to 50 pounds occasionally from floor to waist; occasionally lift 100 pounds from waist level (lifting participant from bed to wheelchair and bathroom facilities); occasionally carry 50 pounds a distance of 15 feet (children or supplies).  Physically able to interact with participants in games and sports activities such as volleyball, basketball, hiking etc. Must possess or be able to obtain and maintain certification in CPR and First Aid and non-contagious TB test result; able to obtain acceptable pre employment, annual and random drug screenings; able to pass a pre-employment and annual criminal records check. Must posses a valid Kentucky driver’s license, be able to obtain and maintain a Class C CDL (Commercial Driver’s License) license, and maintain a safe driving record.

 

Working Conditions

Working in Center /community; exposure to: unpleasant and unsanitary conditions, communicable diseases and blood borne pathogens, noises, odors, health problems, behaviors and disabilities.
